2024 Davis Show

April 28

Central Park, Davis, California

The show will be held Sunday, April 28, at Central Park. Saturday activities on April 27th will be held as in past years.

Due to upcoming construction by the city at our show location, there will be no swap meet.

The construction activities at Central Park prevent us from using the lawn area that we’ve used for the past several years. To partially offset this lost space, we made the decision to discontinue the swap meet for this year. This will allow us to accommodate very close to the number of cars that we had in 2023.

Since there will be less show parking, we encourage attendees to register in advance at the Golden Gate Chapter’s website www.ggvcoa.com.

Registration is now open. The entrance fee is $20.

More details on Golden Gate’s website.

We appreciate your understanding and flexibility in dealing with these changes and hope to see you at the Davis Show.

Spring Fling: Tail of the Dragon

May 4

Hunter Volvo Cars Asheville, North Carolina

Meet-up and scenic drive—a family event.

Organized by the VCOA Blue Ridge Chapter.

The Tail of the Dragon refers to the serpentine 11 miles of U.S. 129 between Deals Gap and the Tabcat Creek Bridge. More than 300 turns!

Convene at Hunter Volvo Cars in Asheville at 8:30 am in the front parking area. We’ll drive the Dragon in flights of 4-5 cars, have lunch along a branch of the Tennessee River. Afterwards, make our way to the West Tubing Company (Brasstown, N.C.) and dine alongside the river whilst tubers shoot the rapids.

Bring your family, grandkids swimming togs (water is chilly), and a jacket. Bluegrass music by a local band is not uncommon at the Tubing Company. So come and relax.

RSVP to Bob Sepe () required. Place The Tail in the subject line, include your name, what car you’ll be driving, and your contact info.

PS Stay over in Murphy, N.C. and “ride” the river in a tube on Sunday. Or send the grandkids and you wait at the lodge for their return. Such fun! Don’t get no better than this!!!!

Carlisle Import & Performance Nationals

May 10-11

Carlisle Fairgrounds, Carlisle, Pa.

When you register, don’t forget to select “Volvos at Carlisle” on the Club dropdown menu. (All Volvo clubs have been rolled into one.)

Covered Bridge Tour

May 12

Lancaster County, Pennsylvania

A 40-mile, self-guided drive through historic covered bridges in Amish country. A tradition since 1992.

We’ll assemble at 11:30 am at Swedish Motors, 7 N. Decatur Street, Marietta, Pa. (GPS 40.056527-76.568073) for a mini-museum tour, and refreshments before the tour.

This drive (not a race or rallye), with mileage directions, GPS references, and historical information, will lead you to Lititz, Pa. (one of the top ten little towns in the U.S.) for late afternoon ‘food and fuel’ at the Bulls Head Tavern or any number of nearby eateries for dining with friends.

Please RSVP by May 1 to John Holtzapple (), noting Covered Bridge in the subject line. Include your name, car you’re driving, number in your party, and cellphone number.

2024 National Meet

September 20-22

Poland Spring Resort, Maine

The 2024 National Meet, hosted by the VCOA Maine Chapter, will be held at the Poland Spring Resort, a historic property 40 minutes north of Portland, Maine. The dates should coincide with crisp fall weather and the beginning of the foliage season.

The resort, which is on the National Register of Historic Sites, achieved renown for its waters in the mid-19th century. The buildings date between 1890 and 1915, although the largest, the Maine Inn, was built in 1963.

You are responsible for your own room(s) reservation. There are four lodging choices at the resort—the Maine Inn, the Presidential Inn, the Lodge and 12 cottages. The meet activities will be held at the Maine Inn.

You can make your hotel reservations now.

The full schedule of events, a list of local attractions, and how to obtain the VCOA discounted hotel rate is published in the Mar-Apr issue of Rolling.
