1958 PV445 Duett
1958 PV445 Duett Frame-off restoration in 1997; driven on weekends and to car shows. I purchased the car in 2007, and it’s been parked in my garage and not driven for 17 years. Body excellent, except for three minor dents that would pull out without much trouble.
The B16 engine was replaced with a B20 (2.0 liter) with a Weber carburetor at the time of the restoration. It starts and runs smoothly. The cylinder compression tested cold at 160-165-175-165. Clutch and transmission seem fine. The frame is solid and rust free. Volvo disk brakes on the front and stock drums on the rear.
Electrical converted to 12 volt. New battery. Everything works.
The interior paint and wood trim are in very good condition. The dash and gauges look very good and mostly work, but the seats, carpet and headliner are tired. Includes a tachometer and stereo.
Brake work and a frontend alignment would make it a fun weekend driver. It would also be an ideal starting point for a full restoration. Good tires, including a spare. Includes the roof rack and shop manual.
What’s wrong? No brakes. The master cylinder is kaput and the hand brake cable needs adjustment or replacement.
