Welcome to the Forum, Tim.

"...something comfortable."

...and safe, too!

Any new seat will need a tilt-forward setup for access to the PV's back seat.

Also, this is the perfect time to upgrade the seatbelts to an all-new retractable system (integrated into the seatback if possible).

If you plan to keep/drive the car long-term consider removing the existing seats, rails, attachments, etc. and weld in a complete seat arrangement using new aftermarket seats with full recline, lumbar, heat(?), etc.

Another option would be to visit your favorite salvage yard and pick up a matching pair of BMW coupe seats, rebuild same (new seatbelts) then fab up a mount to match the PV's rails.
