I ordered ignition points for my 1962 PV544 B18. To my surprise, the correct points according to SwedishTreasures would not fit my distributor. After lots of research on the internet looking at pictures of point sets, the only one that looks like my old set is a set from a 1973 164e six cylinder.??? The number on the distributor is 023 117 035. Anybody know how to tell what it came out of?
The points are Bosch RB24.
Thanks

Please take another look at the distributor number on the car - could it be 0231 137 035?

Look through this for pics/info on points applications...

Thanks for your reply. I will check the distributor number again. With it in the car, the number is hard to read so I have been trying to read it using a mirror. Anyway, I ordered the rb24 points and they are installed so we will see how it runs. Haven't got to start it yet, due to gas tank issues. Hoping to get it running this week.
Thanks again for your help.

:) Well the red beast is alive and driving. The RB24 points seem to be just right. Had a few fuel issues, fuel pump and carb seats but after fixing those issues she fired right up and sounds great. I am not going to totally restore this car but instead just drive it as it is and enjoy it. Of course I will put the hood back on.

Good show!

Where are the hubcaps?

Did you finally decide that the distributor is from a VW?

:) Well I didn't want to believe it but looks like the distributor is from a VW?? Although I got lots of extra parts with the car, hubcaps were no were to be found. Can't afford to buy new ones but maybe I will run across a used set one day. Now on to other things, front brakes are good, but back wheel cylinders are stuck. I plan to rent a hub puller and free them up.
Thanks for your help
