Well, you've probably noticed by now that things look a little different around here. You are a keen observer!

The whole site is new and that includes all of the software that drives this forum. With probably over 10,000 settings and hundreds of back-end programs trying to talk to one another, there are bound to be a few glitches that we haven't discovered yet. So, if you happen to stumble upon anything that just doesn't seem right, give us a shout and we'll try to sort it out.

Thanks for using the VCOA Forum and enjoy the new look!

Hello all, I am new to VOCA so this is my first post. I have had many Volvos over the years, all rear wheel drive 120's, 140's and now my first PV 544. Through all the cars I have owned since 1972, I have never had to replace a clutch. I just purchased the 1962 544 and the previous owner put new clutch, pressure plate and throw out bearing in it back in 2001 but never started or drove the car. I has sat all this time so the clutch has caused the flywheel to rust. It is not too bad to be resurfaced but around here no one knows the spec on the "step". This flywheel is a "step" flywheel, not flat. I understand there is a spec for the height of the step??? Does anyone have this spec? If not, any advise for my machine shop that would allow them to resurface this flywheel.
Thanks for your help.

Thanks very much. Looks like I can grind the the flywheel .03 inches from original thickness. While that doesn't address the "step" distance, it does provide a guide as to the limit of the grind amount. Thanks again.

B18 Kit is #91253 (Page 103) and the step is on Page 130 (flat flywheel step direction "UP" 0.011").

This still does not address your non-flat flywheel but I am still googlin'.
