Well, you've probably noticed by now that things look a little different around here. You are a keen observer!

The whole site is new and that includes all of the software that drives this forum. With probably over 10,000 settings and hundreds of back-end programs trying to talk to one another, there are bound to be a few glitches that we haven't discovered yet. So, if you happen to stumble upon anything that just doesn't seem right, give us a shout and we'll try to sort it out.

Thanks for using the VCOA Forum and enjoy the new look!

I was wondering what all I would need to convert my 1989 volvo 244 gl into a manual. Are there other pedal assembly's that would fit my car, like those from a 850. Sorry if there is already a discussion on this. This is my first post and I dont know yet how to navigate this site.

Welcome to the forum.

The link below has some good info on converting your 240 into a manual shift car.

Once you decide which direction to take post up here and we will find all the goodies needed to make the swap.

I saw on ebay there were some borg warner mustang t5 transmissions, are they the same? Is it worth paying extra money to do a t5 swap versus a m47?

The M47 would be just fine unless you plan to pump up to big horsepower and performance mods.

Is your 240 in good condition?

My 240 is in decent condition, the only problem is that my struts need replaced. In a month it will be fixed. The engine doesn't show its age, especially for having 19X,XXX miles. When I swap the tranny I will do a B230 or a B234. My dad has thrown around the idea of using a B30 like the one in his 1973 164e. He even has a complete engine i might be able to use.
