Hello to all !
I just purchased a 2004 V70 from a relative who told me up front that he has had his wiring harness replaced twice due to mice eating through the harness, and causing shorts.
He was told that the outer casing of the wires are SOY BASED, and therefore mice who are hungry and are nesting in and under the hood go to the harness BUFFET ?
I have looked inside the engine compartment and have found acorns, nuts etc,., and have removed the hood insulation to find a nest, which I removed and sprayed the insulation with ammonia prior to installation.
I have also killed /caught six mice in the last seven days. When does the killing end? (When there are none left.) How do I stop this /them from invading and destroying my V70 wiring & engine compartment, other than getting a cat?

Just enjoyed thirty minutes on go ogle and learned that the only sure-fire method that will guarantee a mice-free engine compartment is to drive the car daily.
